Carriage of pets 

With the exception of dogs trained to lead the blind and assist the deaf, the conveyance of domestic
animals such as dogs, cats and birds in the aircraft cabin is at the discretion of the captain. 
Local regulations require that animals travel in appropriate travel crates or cages, whether
in the cabin or hold compartment.  Animals and travel crates will be weighed and charged
at the prevailing excess baggage rates, unless the crate necessitates the removal
of a passenger seat, in which case the passenger fare will be charged.   

2.    Restricted Dog Breeds

As per Legal Notice 39 of 2003, Made by the Governor under section 98 of the Customs
Ordinance, the following breeds of dogs shall not be permitted entrance into the
Turks & Caicos Islands.  For further details or to inquire about exceptions, contact
the Turks & Caicos Customs Department at 649 946-2345.

i Akita
ii Any breed of Bulldog
iii Any breed of Mastiff
iv Any pit bull including the American Staffordshire terrier, the pit bull terrier, the Staffordshire bull terrier and a mixed-breed dog which has any pit bull lineage.
v Bandog
vi Beauceron
vii Canary dog, or Presa Canario
viii Doberman Pinscher
ix Dogo Argentino
x Fila Brazilliero
xi Japanese Tosa
xii Jindo
xiii Kuvasz
iv Rhodesian Ridgeback

Carriage of unaccompanied children 12 years and younger is at the discretion of the captain. Minors
aged 5 - 11 years will only be accepted for travel once the appropriate written consent has been
received from the parent / guardian and will take responsibility for them between the airports
of departure and arrival, only. Children aged 5 to 11 years are not considered to be unaccompanied
minors when accompanied by another passenger of 16 years and older.

Unaccompanied children under the age of 5 years may only be accepted for travel when
accompanied by an escort.

 

 
EXCESS BAGGAGE  

The free baggage allowance is:

  • Domestic flight:          40 pounds per person

  • International:               60 pounds per person

Excess Baggage will be charged at the following  rates:

  • Domestic, except to Salt Cay        $0.40, one way

  • Domestic, Salt Cay flights:            $0.60, round trip

  • International:                                    $0.65, one way

 
THESE ARTICLES MAY NOT BE CHECKED IN YOUR BAGGAGE   

For safety reasons the following articles may not be carried in checked baggage :

  • Compressed gases such as butane, oxygen, liquid nitrogen and aqualung cylinders.

  • Corrosives such as acids, alkalis, mercury and wet cell batteries.

  • Explosives such as hand guns, ammunition, fireworks and pistol caps.

  • Flammable liquids and solids such as lighter fuel, matches, paints, thinners and firelighters.

  • Radioactive materials. Briefcases and attaché cases with installed alarm devices.

  • Oxidizing materials such as bleaching powder and peroxides.

  • Poisons and infectious substances such as insecticides, weed-killers and live virus materials.

  • Other dangerous articles such as magnetized material and offensive or irritating materials. 

 
BAGGAGE ALLOWANCE & EXCESS BAGGAGE TARIFF  
Excess baggage fees are charged on a one-way basis except for Salt Cay. Salt Cay residents and vendors may be exempt and pay on a one way basis with prior permission from our Accounts Department.

 
CARRY-ON BAGGAGE  

Air Turks and Caicos usually allows one carry-on piece per passenger, however capacity varies according to aircraft type.  Air Turks & Caicos reserves the right to disallow carry-on and place it in the baggage hold compartment at our discretion. 

 
TRAVELING WHEN PREGNANT  

If you are already in or beyond your 34th week of pregnancy, we do not recommend that you fly. It might be best for you to seek advice from your medical practitioner in this regard.
